An Invitation to Make A Difference

I see it all the time – a general lack of purpose and frustration with the way life is.  From time to time, I even hear, “My life is so boring.”

After listening to Wrecked, perhaps boring should really be stated as easy or comfortable. The book is subtitled: When A Broken World Slams Into Your Comfortable Life. The life that many of us lead is comfortable.

This book challenges the reader/listener to be brave and go make a difference.  It asks the reader to stop being afraid of things that might cause pain.  Pain has purpose and leads to growth, maturity, and really living.

Through a collection of personal stories, the author, Jeff Goins, shows what it looks like to be wrecked.  He shows that it is different for every person.  His premise is that when we begin to live beyond ourselves and see the needs of others, we are better for it. We become happier, stronger people when we allow ourselves to give of our gifts and resources for the benefit of others – even though it may cause us pain.

Compelled by calling and compassion, we suffer with those we serve. Click to tweet.

There is pain involved in helping others. As a person in ministry, I feel it often. Yet, despite the heartache and hardship, there is great fulfillment in reaching out to the world and making a difference to even just one individual.

This book is a manifesto, calling you to live beyond yourself.  It asks you to be willing to see the world through someone else’s eyes all the while knowing you may never be the same again.
